Fill-the-casket food drive in Bixby

You can practically hear it in the air, the annual change taking place to a home in the Southbridge neighborhood of Bixby. The Brantley home.

"We add on every year," said Sheryl Brantley, putting spiders in a giant web and giving us a tour of the yard's tombstones.

"We’ve got Barry M Deep, and Barry D Alive," she said.

The annual display of things falling apart is ironically the perfect vehicle of coming together.

"Yeah it's a good way definitely to spend time with my sister and my parents," said 15 year-old Alyssa, who loves scary movies and is not afraid of bees.

Now there’s a bumble bee next to you. "Hello." Is that scaring you? "Eh, just wasn’t expecting it to be there," she laughed.

But of course a lot of families deck the halls with death and decay this time of year, but the Brantley's wanted to do more.

"We thought, you know this is memorable but lets make it meaningful as well," said Sheryl.

Hence their Halloween food drive with the awesome name of...

"Fill-the-casket food drive," said Alyssa.

"Fill-the-casket food drive benefitting the Bixby Outreach Center," said Sheryl.

"Wife came up with fill-the-casket so that’s what we’re going to try to do," said Kevin Brantley.

And yes they have actual caskets, part of one on display in their homemade hearse.

Is it weird buying a casket for a non-normal function? "Yes it is, it’s kind of weird," he laughed.

So what happens if they fill up the whole casket?

"We have four caskets so if one gets too full we have three more," said Sheryl.

The scary good time/good cause Halloween at the Brantley's. A family that doesn't scare easily, unless of course, the media stops by.

Was that scary in any way? "Somewhat, especially when you never been on the news or anything you’re like oooh." said Kevin.

If you'd like to participate in the food drive, just stop by on Halloween, their address is 13948 S. 91st E. Ave, Bixby
